How to acquire the Right to Use a manufacturer's web
content:
Read Technologies contacts Manufacturer to request the use of web content on behalf to the reseller.
Prior to retrieving any text, images, graphics, animations, audio and/or video and other descriptive material, it will be necessary to obtain a separate and legal right to use, publish, promote, copy, display, distribute, modify, arrange and offer the content over the Internet through the Reseller's website.
Read Technologies coordinates efforts of potential users of RSWeb to obtain a "License Agreement" from the
Manufacturer or other owner of the "Source" web content. This License Agreement must minimally grant a non-exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide license to access the
information on Content Provider's Web Site, with permission to use, publish, promote, copy, display, distribute, modify, arrange and offer the Information and any derivative thereof, over the Internet through the creation "Output" web content.
How to receive a Cost Estimate for potential web content generated by RSWeb:
Read Technologies provides the Reseller with an estimate of both the initial and potential subsequent cost of using RSWeb. In most cases there will be a minimum of a Set Up Fee plus a Cost per Page. For example, for using RSWeb to provide content from a Manufacturer with 10 pages of applicable content, the fee would be $1000 for the Set Up Fee, plus $200 for the Cost per Page (10 pages * $20 per page), or a total of $1200.00. In addition, the Reseller has the option to use Read Technologies' Consulting Service, as well as Read Technologies' Forms Processing Service, at an additional charge as described below.
Setup Fee.
A non-refundable Setup Fee of $2000 is required for up to three "source domains" that contains required content. Set up for more than three source domains will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Note: A source domain is defined as a unique sub domain where web content is stored and made available on the Internet. For example, RSWeb considers
www.example.com and support.example.com as two separate source domains.
The setup process creates a Reseller defined "template" in which to place new content; as well as defines an indivisible group of pages in each source domain, and a finally creates a "Rules Database" to manage the scope of the available content and it's desired modification.
Manufacturers provide RSWeb with a set of guidelines to govern the use of the content required, including but not limited to:
Which pages are or are not available.
Manufacturer requested limitations on modifications.
Resellers provide RSWeb with a second set of guidelines to govern how they want the content to look, including but not limited to:
Which pages are or are not available.
What content to update or replace.
Specify the web server that takes delivery of all RSWeb generated web content along with account information required to access the server via FTP protocol.
Cost per page
For text only delivery, the cost per page begins at $20 per page, for up to 100 pages of content. Above 100 pages of content the cost per page decreases by a factor of 4 for each increase in the total number of pages by a factor of 10. For example: at 1000 pages of content, the cost would be $5 per page; or at 10,000 pages of content, the cost would be $1.25 per page; or at 100,000 pages of content, the cost would be $0.3125 per page. (The actual cost per page is based on a calculation, which represents the curve that passes through these example points; so that the cost per page begins at $20.00 per page and literally decreases for every increase in the number of pages of content required above 100 pages.) The cost per page is required for the complete package of content, which is retrieved within the scope of the rules provided by the reseller from the Manufacturer's source domain. Note that references to image and multimedia files that point back to the source domain appear properly, provided these files aren't removed or changed at the source domain.
For premium delivery, an additional charge of $10 per page is assessed for the physical delivery of actual image and/or multimedia files required to support the proper display and operation of every web page completely from the Reseller customer's web server. This effectively freezes all content at its destination.
Although the cost for the actual content delivered is calculated on a per page basis, all pages within a Manufacturer source domain must be purchased together due to the links contained within those pages that refer to other pages in the domain.
The initial cost per page includes charges for all source domains that have been setup.
Subsequent cost includes charges for changes to these source domains.
(RSWeb regularly monitors each source domain, special arrangements can be made for the frequency of monitoring.)
Consulting
Each Reseller customer that chooses to use RSWeb is assigned a dedicated RSWeb consultant to assist with the Setup and Content Delivery.
Each Reseller customer receives approximately 4 units (each unit equals 15 minutes) of "No Charge" consulting time each time a new source domain is setup. This "No Charge" time is only available in conjunction with a new delivery of content, and cannot be carried forward or applied to any other project.
Additional consulting is available as required or at the request of the Reseller customer, at the rate of approximately $40 per unit (each unit equals 15 minutes.)
Forms processing
Occasionally, a Manufacturer's web content requires that forms
be used to collect information from users visiting a web site. These forms must be processed in order for the user to do things like access information, start a download, or run a demo. In order for this procedure to run successfully, the information collected on these forms must be processed separately by RSWeb, and in most cases some information must be forwarded on to the Manufacturer before the user can continue.
The processing of these forms require a determination by the Reseller to:
Provide their own scripts to process forms on their own web server.
Read Technologies can host the forms processing, at a cost of approximately $100 per form for setup and $1.00 per form each time it's
accessed.
You are automatically notified when new Manufacturer Web Content is Available
RSWeb continually reviews and evaluates Manufacturer content for new and changed content.
Review Web Content BEFORE Purchasing.
When RSWeb finds new or changed content, then RSWeb sends an email notification to the Reseller that new or changed content is available.
Review Web Content BEFORE Purchasing
Then RSWeb prepares a prototype for Reseller review prior to delivery of the content, and the Reseller has the opportunity to review, evaluate, and approve or disapprove each of the updated or changed web pages.
Prior to the final purchase of any content, each Reseller customer receives a unique Logon and password to access the RSWeb Demo room on-line, in order to review all content, including modifications and consulting work.
RSWeb retrieves the changed pages of content from the Manufacturer.
RSWeb runs the retrieved content through the appropriate "Rules Database".
Reseller can demo the prototype and decline or accept by each new page of content before purchase.
If a Reseller declines a page within the Manufacturer source domain, RSWeb generates an email notification to the Reseller's dedicated Consultant at
Read Technologies with instructions to call the Reseller regarding why they declined.
If a Reseller accepts a page within the Manufacturer source domain, that page is then placed in a holding area waiting for the Reseller to accept all the pages that have changed in the Manufacturer source domain.
Approve Web Content for Delivery
After review and approval of all new and changed content, Reseller reviews the RSWeb Statistics Page to determine the number of pages changed and the cost.
Reseller generates an online order and schedules a time for web content delivery.
Once Reseller's payment authorization is processed, RSWeb generates a new set of static web pages for the entire Manufacturer source domain, and then initiates an FTP transfer of the final content to a designated Reseller web server.
